B Radiology “BR”, compromises of several practices, located in Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Coffs Harbour and Rockhampton. This group of progressive X-ray and Medical Imaging practices were established by Dr John Mitchell, a veteran of providing provincial radiology care. The first practice was opened in Bundaberg in 2004 and continues to support both the immediate and surrounding communities. As the need for high quality service and excellent customer care became more and more apparent, Dr Mitchell has expanded to other locations and now has 6 established clinics.
BR is well recognised as a leading bulk billing practice, with prompt and efficient service run by experts within the field.
Under the direction of Dr Mitchell, the BR Group is managed by the Executive Team. A bio of this team can be found here
The BR Mission Statement
B.R. - Being ResponsiveWe endeavour to Be Responsive to the patient with service and caring, Responsive to the referring Doctors with accurate and timely reporting and Responsive to the community at large by using environmentally friendly processes. BR is relentless about becoming the caring community practice and welcomes feedback at any point in order that we can achieve this.
Reduced Cost and Improved QualityOur aim is to provide quality and cost effective diagnostic imaging in a timely manner. Through the careful selection of staff and technology we aim to maximise efficiency and to realise cost savings
A New Era of TechnologyWe utilise new technologies to produce a totally digital medical imaging department. Using state-of-the-art software and computers, the acquisition and storage of all images on a secure digital media allows quick transmission, image manipulation and accurate archiving. The digital modalities include CT, Ultrasound, General X-ray, Fluoroscopy, Mammography and OPG. The archiving functions means a patients' previous images will be at hand for comparison providing an increasingly accurate and time-effective interpretation.
Environmentally FriendlyDigital acquisition and storage means no chemical processor toxic waste will be produced at our Practices. In addition you can help us reduce the load of plastics produced by accepting images on Compact Disc rather than the old film format.
Lower X-ray DosesThe digital technologies have an inherent ability to substantially reduce the radiation dose for any particular examination. In addition, the ability to manipulate images after acquisition means the need for repeat X-rays has been significantly reduced repeat X-rays, again decreasing the overall radiation dose to our patients.
Multi-slice TechnologyThe ultimate diagnostic X-ray images are obtained by Computed Tomography (CT). Our new state-of-the-art equipment allows revolutionary manipulation of image data to produce high resolution images in any plane as well as 3-D reconstructions to give the viewer the best appreciation of the anatomy.
More ComfortFaster scanning leads to reduced time for patients on the examination table. The ability to reconstruct in multiple planes means we rarely need to place a patient in an unusual position. These changes make an examination more comfortable than ever before.
Lowest Radiation DoseOur CT equipment was selected with patient safety in mind. A read-out of the radiation dose is provided for each and every examination we perform. This increases our awareness of the radiation delivered to our patients. We are comfortable in knowing our technology will allow us to administer the lowest radiation dose possible.
Ultrasound - Imaging without RadiationEven though the amount of radiation in medical imaging is the minimum possible and holds a is very low risk of harm, imaging without radiation provides the ultimate in safety. We have selected the most sophisticated ultrasound equipment available to ensure we can obtain the best diagnostic images possible.
Ultrasound has the ability to show structure during function, such as the beating of the heart or the moving of a muscle. By using digital imaging and a CD (compact disc) we can provide these moving images directly to the patient and the referring Doctor to help improve understanding of the anatomy or pathology. The discs will automatically load and display on most computers without special software.
We are proud to have this new technology to all our practices. The 4th dimension allows the technician to see moving 3D images during the scan. This is currently most useful in obstetric imaging though its benefits are still unfolding.
