A progressive X-ray and Medical imaging practice established by Dr John Mitchell to meet the needs of Bundaberg and the surrounding communities
B.R. - Being Responsive
We endeavour to be Responsive to the patient with service and caring, Responsive to the referring Doctors with accurate and timely reporting and Responsive to the community at large by using environmentally friendly processes.
Reduced Cost and Improved Quality
Our aim is to provide quality and cost effective diagnostic imaging in a timely manner. Through the careful selection of staff and technology we aim to maximise efficiency and to realise cost savings which we aim to pass on to our patients.
A New Era of Digital Imaging
Just as home photo albums are turning digital, we have utilised new technologies to produce a totally digital medical imaging department. That’s right; there is not a darkroom to be found in our new rooms. All images are acquired and stored on digital media allowing quick transmission, image manipulation and accurate storage. The digital modalities include CT, Ultrasound, General X-ray, Fluoroscopy, Mammography and OPG.
A patient’s recent previous images will always be at hand for comparison allowing more accurate interpretation.
Environmentally Friendly
Digital acquisition and storage means no chemical processor toxic waste will be produced by our practice. In addition you can help us reduce the load of plastics produced by accepting images on compact disc rather then the old film format.
Lower X-ray Doses
The digital technologies have an inherent ability to substantially reduce the radiation dose for any particular examination. In addition, the ability to manipulate images after acquisition means substantially reduced repeat X-rays, again reducing the overall radiation dose to our patients
Multi-slice Technology
The ultimate diagnostic X-ray images are obtained by computed tomography. Our new state-of–the–art equipment allows revolutionary manipulation of image data to produce high resolution images in any plane as well as 3-D reconstructions to give the viewer the best appreciation of the anatomy.
More Comfort
Faster scanning leads to reduced time for patients on the examination table. The ability to reconstruct in multiple planes means we rarely need to place a patient in an unusual position. These changes make an examination more comfortable than ever before.
New Examinations
The new equipment will expand the range of diagnostic imaging procedures that can be performed and we intend to take full advantage of that capacity for the benefit of our patients.
Lowest Radiation Dose
Our CT equipment was selected with patient safety in mind. A read-out of the radiation dose is provided for each and every examination we perform. This increases our awareness of the radiation delivered to our patients. We are comfortable in knowing our technology will allow us to administer the lowest radiation dose possible.
Ultrasound – Imaging without Radiation
Even though the amount of radiation in medical imaging is the minimum possible and is very low risk of harm, imaging without radiation provides the ultimate in safety. We have selected the most sophisticated ultrasound equipment available to ensure we can obtain the best diagnostic images possible.
Real Time Review
Ultrasound has the ability to show structure during function, such as the beating of the heart or the moving of a muscle. By using digital imaging and a CD (compact disc) we can provide these moving images directly to the patient and the referring Doctor to help improve understanding of the anatomy or pathology. The discs will automatically load and display on most computers without special software.
New 4-D Technology
We are proud to introduce this new technology to Bundaberg. It allows the technician to see moving 3-D images during the scan. This is currently most useful in obstetric imaging though its benefits are still unfolding.
Bundaberg Radiology – Responsive Now and into the Future
Just as the Internet has changed the way we bank or book an airflight, the Internet can change the way we do radiology.
Nation Leading Vision
In close association with its vendors, Bundaberg Radiology aims to develop the most comprehensive imaging network in Australia (if not the world)! Our vision is to use the internet to provide images and information to the people who need it when they need it. We aim to save patients time by enabling bookings to be made over the internet any time of the day or night, from the Doctors Clinic or their own home. We aim to reduce the inconvenience of losing films or leaving images at home by providing internet access to your films and reports from our files at any time. In urgent situations the referring Doctor will have access to the images in their rooms, almost as soon as they are taken.
